Tips For Tubelizing Your Bicycle With Tannus

The trend to go tubeless in cycling has been increasing and more and more cyclists are taking advantage of the advantages of this technology. If you are also considering taking the leap and joining it, this article will interest you.

TUBING YOUR BIKE: WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Tubing your MTB means saying goodbye to air chambers. This fact brings significant advantages, among which we can highlight comfort and improved performance, but also greater peace of mind. And in addition to being able to ride with low pressures, you will forget about pinches and punctures.

Yes indeed. If you want to go tubeless and also protect your rim from knocks and scuffs, our recommendation is that, when tubeling your bike, you use our new inserts, such as the TUBELESS PRO . Thanks to its 20mm thickness, you will keep your wheels protected while you ride at low pressures.

GO TUBELESS WITH THESE SIMPLE STEPS

  1. Disassemble and clean

Remove your tires and take out the inner tube. Then thoroughly clean the inside of the tire. You can use a clean cloth and alcohol to make sure the surface is completely clean.

Advice . You do not need to completely remove the tire from the rim. You can leave one of the sides on it, but make sure it is completely clean before following the rest of the steps.

  1. Prepare the rim tape

First apply double-sided tape. Then put the rim tape on top, making two turns with the tape. Make sure that the rim tape correctly covers the spoke holes and tighten the tape well, this way you will ensure a perfect seal.

  1. Place your insert

Place the first bead of your Tubeless insert into the rim and make sure to line it up with the valve hole. Then, place the second one, again making sure your insert is properly aligned. Then insert the second side of the tire and finish accommodating it completely to your rim.

  1. Apply sealant liquid

Here you can proceed in two ways:

  • After settling it with your hands, you can inflate the tire so that the sides sit correctly, without applying fluid at first. Then, deflate it again and now add the sealing liquid through the core, that is, the removable part of the valve. To make it even easier, you can help yourself with a syringe. Once you have finished pouring the liquid, close the valve, inflate the wheel to the desired pressure and spin it to spread all the sealant inside the tire.
  • If you cannot remove this removable part of the valve, you can mount ⅔ of the tire bead on the rim and, once mounted, add the sealing fluid through the tire hole, according to the recommended amount. If this is the method you use, remember to keep the unmounted section of the wheel on top, so that the sealant flows through the mounted part. Once ready, finish mounting the remaining part of the bead and inflate the tire. Introduce a generous amount of air, until the tire completely heals. Finally, spin the wheel. Thus, the liquid will be distributed over its entire surface.

Once ready, all that remains is to adapt the pressure to your tastes - or to that recommended by the manufacturer. And tubed wheels! This way you will be able to ride with a lower pressure than what you used to have with an inner tube.

AND ROLL!

By following our steps, you can start rolling without complications. But remember! Although tubeless has many advantages, it is not free of maintenance. This means that you have to keep checking the pressure in your tires and that, from time to time, you will have to change the sealing fluid. The good news is that with Tannus, unlike other inserts , your protector will not absorb said liquid, always remaining fresh to cover the punctures.
