GENERAL QUESTIONS

Unlike other solid tires, Tannus has made impressive technological advances that make the tires lightweight, comfortable and durable. Most people don't notice a difference when they use Tannus Airless, except that they no longer get flats and don't have to check their tire pressure every time.

AIRLESS TIRES

Tannus Airless are not inserts. They are solid tires so they act as both an inner tube and a tire.

The weight increases by approximately 20-50 grams per tire on average on racing bike sizes compared to the most popular solutions on the market. It is equivalent to a quarter of the weight of the spare inner tube.

Grip is comparable to traditional tires. Think about it, they wouldn't have been certified by TÜV if this wasn't the case. Even on wet surfaces and at high speeds, Tannus Airless will always support you.

Laboratory tests confirm this but also the experience of thousands of cyclists from Europe. None of them found any differences in this regard.

Absolutely not. Tannus Airless mounts on all rims except tubular rims and hockless rims.

The assembly of Airless can be done independently or by relying on one of our resellers.

ARMOUR TIRES

The size of Tannus Armour corresponds exactly to the size of the tire on which they are applied.

Example: Do you have a 29x2.20 tire? The Armour that's right for you is 29x1.95-2.50

We recommend not using Tannus Armour with a tubeless setup. Using the inner tube eliminates the burp effect, drastically reduces direct punctures and lateral cutting and increases ease of use.

They were designed for mountain bikes, Enduro, DH and gravel but are also perfect for city bikes and cycle touring but in general at low pressures.

Although compatible, we do not recommend Tannus Armour in an exclusively road setup due to the high pressures of use. On racing bikes we instead recommend Tannus Airless

No, the insert is designed to be used exclusively with an inner tube.

Be careful to clean the tire and rim well from any sealant residues in the event of a setup change from Tubeless to inner tube

The choice of pressure is personal. We suggest to inflate approximately 0.1-0.5 atm less than the pressure previously used.

ATTENTION: do not go below 0.8 Atm (risk of pinching) and avoid inflating beyond 3 atm to avoid excessive compression of the material

TUBELESS TIRES

Tannus Tubeless is an insert that is positioned between the tire and the rim. It offers puncture resistance, comfort, and enhanced riding capabilities.

Tannus Tubeless is made of a patented material called Aither. It’s a high quality foam-like polymer that offers vibration damping, a smoother ride, and puncture resistance.

Tannus Tubeless is made up of three different inserts.

TUBELESS LITE version is suitable for road bike and gravel bikes

TUBELESS PRO version is suitable for XC, Enduro MTB

TUBELESS FUSION version is the combination of LITE and PRO and is suitable for DH and ENDURO

There are 2 kinds of Tubeless inserts:

  • Inserts positioned in contact with the rim
  • Inserts that float inside the tire

Inserts that grip firmly to the rim dissipate impacts directly on the rim. This leads to greater breakage of the rims than if inserts were not used. They also make riding seem "boring" for many cyclists. Lastly, they are usually VERY difficult to install.

The downside of "floating" inserts is that they do in fact provide rim protection, but no ride quality advantages. They are adding weight to your bike, but ride quality is just like a standard tubeless tire.

Tannus Tubeless combines the ride quality benefits of an insert seated up against the rim, but with the weight and easy installation of a floating insert. This is made possible by the flexible "Wings" that allow the insert to sit higher in the tire, but still provide 20mm of rim protection.

Tannus Tubeless does several things, but these are the most important:

  1. Help protect the rim from damage so you can ride harder and hit rocks with more confidence
  2. Provide a smoother, yet more playful.
  3. Increases speed to help win races and, more importantly, beat your friends

They are completely re-usable! Keep them when your old bike sells and you're in the market for a new one!

No, Tubeless only works with the Tubeless set-up and the anti-puncture liquid.

No, any valve suitable for Tubeless tires is compatible. In fact, the insert has a special space created to accommodate the valve during assembly.

The choice of pressure is personal but the insert is created to allow the cyclist to ride at lower pressures.

We suggest to inflate approximately 0.1-0.5 Bar less than the pressure previously used.

Make sure you are using "Tubeless Specific" sealant.

We recommend to use the following quantity of sealant:

LITE:  ~ 60 ml

PRO:  ~ 120 ml

FUSION:  ~ 250 ml
